SOLES4SOULS TO DONATE 250 NEW PAIRS OF SHOES TO FOSTER CHILDREN’S FOUNDATION
It had been over 3,000 miles since Dashiel Alsup turned his back on a cold and lonely beach in Washington State and started walking -- barefoot -- across America. Since that day over six and 1/2 months ago, Dashiel has endured countless blisters, cracks and puncture wounds to his feet; many cold and rainy nights spent in his cramped tent; and more than a few tense moments with locals unsure of Dashiel's motivations.
Dashiel, aka DASH, has also picked up many fans along the way, as they discover that his barefoot trek is a monumental effort for Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to providing free shoes to people in need around the world. OKA b. Shoes, a division of Okabashi Brands, are one of DASH’s biggest fans. The company will donate 60,000 pairs of new shoes in his honor to Soles4Souls. On Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. EST, Okabashi Brands is located at 4823 Roy Carlson Blvd., Buford, GA 30518. Soles4Souls and OKA b. company executives will be on hand for the presentation.
Then at 1:00 p.m., Alsup and Soles4Souls staff will be at the Foster Children’s Foundation resource center. The resource center is located at 6733 Jones Mills Court, Suite E, Norcross, GA. 30092
After visiting the Atlanta area for a few days, Alsup will continue toward his final goal to Jacksonville, Florida, where he will have walked over 3,500 miles for Soles4Souls. A huge celebration will be held for Dashiel when he finishes his journey in Jacksonville. Details will be released closer to the date of his arrival there.
